Hosea 1–2: Persuading Unfaithful People ⟶
This is a sermon I preached from Hosea 1–2 on October 4, 2026 at Elm Grove Baptist Church in Waelder, Texas.
God shows the most love imaginable to the worst subjects imaginable.
I walk through five steps (or phases) of how God addressed the unfaithfulness of Israel in Hosea chapters 1–2.
- Warning. God warns the people about what is about to happen to them because they’ve abandoned Him. (Hosea 1:3–9)
- Disenchantment. God takes away their illusions about the other “lovers” they’ve found. (Hosea 2:5–7)
- Separation. God pulls back all of the good blessings He’s been giving them. (Hosea 2:8–13)
- Persuades. God tenderly persuades them to return to Him. (Hosea 2:14–16)
- Happily Ever After. Instead of no mercy, mercy. Instead of not mine, mine. Instead of not yours, yours. And this, forever. (Hosea 2:19–23)
Return to the LORD, and He will forgive you. Hosea 14:1–4,9.
